The Linda Announces Two Solid Nights of Blues

ALBANY – Adding to their roster of shows, The Linda-WAMC’s Performing Arts Studio announces two solid nights of blues: Mississippi Heat on April 1st, and Studebaker John and the Hawks on June 5th.

Led by harmonica master and songwriter Pierre Lacocque, Mississippi Heat is a world-class Chicago Blues Band. Their motto is “Traditional Blues With A Unique Sound” as they present fresh yet vintage-based musical ideas. Mississippi Heat’s name is a reflection of Pierre’s reverence for Mississippi’s blues culture and music. They have received worldwide critical acclaim, including from Living Blues Magazine: “Mississippi Heat delivers its traditional urban blues with a freshness, energy and competence that makes them a treasure on today’s Chicago scene.”

Studebaker John and the Hawks began performing in the ‘70s. The band name referenced the Studebaker Hawk, a car Grimaldi still owns today and was also intended as a tribute to his friend, J.B. Hutto, and the Hawks. John began playing guitar after a life-changing experience of seeing Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers perform. “…Hound Dog started playing, hitting notes that sent chills up and down my spine. He was versatile and powerful and would play rhythm as well as leads. I left there knowing what I wanted to do. I had to play slide guitar.”
