Ladysmith Black Mambazo made a return trip to the Capital Region, including Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs as a stop of their first tour since March 2020. Founded by the late Joseph Shambala, the group has continued to spread the joy and beauty of acapella Isicathamiya Zulu music, This joyful music was ironically created by Zulu miners torn away from their families under the apartheid system to work in mines far away from home.

The group is now led by three of Joseph’s sons with long-time supporting members, none less than 6 years with the band. Their mixture of songs about love, life, and freedom along with their famous dancing entertained the audience for two sets of music and good-natured humor and heavenly harmonies at Universal Preservation Hall. Something that is truly needed for these tough times.
