The Attic Classic: To begin at the beginning for the band SMITTIX we have to go back to the mid-nineties. Rob “Smittix” O’Donnell‘s career in music began after producing a radio rap jingle for the Snapple Beverage Company, which aired all over the United States.

Around the same time, Rob was introduced to ska music through a connection with Conehead Buddha, one of area’s original genre-blending jam bands. The style intrigued him, as its off-beat rhythms would blend well with his approach to rapping.

Fast forward to 2006, where we find Rob and his drummer brother Jay looking to put a band together. They had their eyes on bassist Will Seyfferth, who also had a connection to Conehead Buddha, and rock guitarist James Tougher, who had played with Will in a previous band.

When that band folded, the four began SMITTIX. As we take one more leap forward, we get to the year 2012, where the boys emerged from a recording studio with ‘Leprenomichaun‘ – a hard hitting ska-punk rock album. The Attic Classic is “Lay Low,” the first track off the disc.
