The Attic Classic: John Kribs has been immersed in music ever since he got his first guitar. By the time he was 13, he had already played his first bar gig! Of course, there was a high school rock band and choir, and a steady Sunday morning gig playing gospel-folk. It wasn’t long till John began writing his own songs and playing them out.

After moving out west in the early 70’s to tour with a rock band, he returned road toughened and wiser. Then got a VW bus, grabbed an acoustic guitar and hit the Northeast coffeehouse and festival circuit. Upon returning to form other bands, produce a record or two and serve as a studio player, we’ve reached the point in John’s career for the Attic Classic.

In 1984 John created Johnny & The Triumphs, a roots rock & rockabilly band formed as an outlet for his songs. Their 1987 self-titled release gained international play, especially in France. Here in the states, the bands regional popularity kept them very busy, including opening shows for James Cotton, the J. Geils Band, Robert Cray, Howlin’ Wolf and many others. But after a dozen years and three albums, the late 90’s was again time for a change.

A set of songs recorded in 1991 for an album were left unfinished, unreleased, the master tapes pretty much forgotten. Until 2021, when drummer Marty Feier on the project dug up some rough mixes, which still sounded good, and suggested they finish them. And so they did, releasing a four song EP titled ‘Gone Too Far.’

The Attic Classic is the title track of the EP.
