No Fun announces its official grand opening with A Place To Bury Strangers
“This ‘grand opening’ comes six months fashionably late, but we feel it is finally the time to launch No Fun properly, and what better way to celebrate than with one of our favorite psych rock bands”, says owner August Rosa. “Opening right in the winter is difficult enough, but the pandemic surge posed another slew of challenges to the startup of this new venture. We are excited to launch this space in a big way.”
The venue has powered on, hosting over 50 events including larger touring acts such as Pinegrove, which sold out in 35 seconds. The venue anticipates tickets to A Place to Bury Strangers to sell out as well.
A fierce and legendary live band, A Place To Bury Strangers is known for wild performances filled with intense visuals and kinetic stage antics. The band was founded in 2003 by Oliver Ackermann, who also started the popular guitar effects pedal company Death by Audio, which existed for nine years as an infamous Williamsburg space which served as venue, recording studio, and live-work space. The Death By Audio space was on the top of our list of inspirations for the kind of venue we wanted No Fun to be – great sound system, weird art on the walls, checkerboard floor & most importantly a constantly evolving space with no limits on creative expression.
