Tanglewood set to Begin Their 2022 Season

LENOX, MA – The Tanglewood 2022 Season, which begins June 17th and runs to September 4th, is set to begin. The first full season of music at the venue since 2019, the line-up presented is a strong one. As always, the 2022 season brings audiences a wide spectrum of programs and works by living composers, alongside a diverse lineup of performers offering their extraordinary artistry, in an expansive summer season. In addition to the classical programming, they again offer a strong roster of special events as part of the Shed Concert Series. Opening the season for this series will be Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band.

Other performances of note at the venue will be James Taylor, as he returns to Tanglewood for his July 3rd and 4th concerts, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra (under the direction of Andris Nelson) who will present the opening night concert with special guest Jean-Yves Thibaudet on July 8th.

Resuming this year, Ozawa Hall will also host concerts for the first time since 2019. Featured at the Hall are the following:

• Saturday, July 2nd, 10:00 am, 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm: Tanglewood Music Center String Quartet Marathon, featuring works by Haydn, Ginastera, Gabriela Ortiz, Price, Adolphus Hailstork, Hilary Tann, Gabriela Lena Frank, Shulamit Ran, Sally Beamish, Alvin Singleton, Chen Yi, and Jessie Montgomery
• Thursday, July 7th, 8:00 pm: Program 1 of Pathways from Prague, curated by Emanuel Ax and including performances by Mr. Ax, Paul Appleby, the Lorelei Ensemble, and Dover Quartet in music by Janáček and Dvořák
