The Egg to host the Uncle Louie Variety Show on October 15
The Egg‘s Hart Theatre will host The Uncle Louie Variety Show on Saturday, October 15. The Uncle Louie Variety Show has been making audiences laugh for years with its hilarious and unique take on growing up as an Italian-American. The show is composed of two dynamic comedians, Lou Greco and Carlo Russo, who have gained international popularity with the theatrical celebration of their Italian heritage.
The comedic duo grew up together in Syracuse, New York, and they often tell the story of how they began writing comedy together during their high school Italian class. Over time, Greco and Russo decided to take it a step further and began putting their ideas on tape and, ultimately, video. Many viewers were introduced to The Uncle Louie Variety Show via the ornery, yet lovable character “Uncle Louie” and the “Broken English Italian Word of the Day”. Today, “Uncle Louie” is joined by the beloved characters “Pasqualino”, “Zia Maria”, and “Zia Rosa”, who are always getting themselves into trouble and making the crowds howl with their antics. Greco and Russo have gained almost a half a million followers on YouTube and Facebook, along with hundreds of millions of views of their weekly comedic videos. Even though the pair draw inspiration from being Italian-American, there is something to be found in their show for people of all cultural backgrounds.
Once The Uncle Louie Variety Show begins, audience members are guaranteed 2-hours of original music, sketch comedy, stand-up by both Greco and Russo, improv and fantastic crowd work. Their videos are nothing compared to seeing a live performance. Greco and Russo take their hilarious vignettes and bring an energy to them that’s palpable when they’re on stage together. After 30 years of friendship and teamwork, they move like a well-oiled comedic machine.
Within the past year, Greco and Russo have traveled up and down the East Coast with “The Hard Comedy World Tour”. The pair resumed the tour in August 2022 and are excited to include this Albany stop at the Egg.
Tickets are $25 and up and are on sale now at The Egg. For more information, you can contact The Egg Box Office at 518-473-1845.
