The Attic Classic:  The Slaughterhouse Chorus performed their last show back in 2019, bringing to an end a decade’s worth of smokin’ hot, cow-punk rock and roll, a fixture on the Albany music scene.

The band has its beginnings with Jay Bonafide and Chris Jordan putting a hardcore ska-punk band together in high school. Public Access also brought an extra bit of fun to the mix with a sax player. With some lineup changes, Bob Watson joining on bass and finally Mark McKenna on drums, the lineup of The Slaughterhouse Chorus was in place.

In 2012 they released their full length self-titled album. Also around this time they helped establish the music and artistic collaborative Built4BBQ, a group of friends coming together to produce and record music and present shows by like-minded local artists. The roster was deep, with Henry’s Rifle, Kimono Dragons, Charmboy, and the Savage Randys among others. You can find almost all recordings on the Built4BBQ Bandcamp site.

The Attic Classic “For God and Country” is a track from the full length self-titled album.

Here’s the boys in the ‘Chorus playing “The Wagon” in 2015, part of the second Built4BBQ Star Spangled Bonanza held July 4th. The event was held in two spots, Pauly’s and The Low Beat in Albany. The lineup included Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, The End Men, Party Boat, The Slaughterhouse Chorus, Charmboy, Kimono Dragons, Henry’s Rifle, The Radicals & The Savage Randys.
