Singer-Songwriter Josh Ritter is “Getting Ready to Get Down” at The Egg on March 5th
ALBANY – Singer-songwriter Josh Ritter will perform at The Egg on Sunday, March 5th at 7:30 PM as part of the American Roots & Branches concert series.
One of the 21st century’s leading lights on the contemporary folk scene and named one of the top 100 living songwriters by Paste Magazine, singer/songwriter Josh Ritter’s keen and evocative way with words will be in full focus for this solo acoustic concert.
The concert is ahead of Ritter’s spellbinding new album, Spectral Lines, due out on April 28th.
Ritter’s “Getting Ready to Get Down” is a familiar favorite to those in Nippertown, many of whom may have heard Reese Fulmer’s joyful cover of the song at various shows throughout the winter. The famous song about growing up fast when adults try to slow you down is matched with a quick tempo and strumming, demonstrating lyrical wit and technique to boot.
“I think it’s important for us to share some of our most basic and common experiences with each other however we can. That’s what we really, really need right now. I know we have common experiences, and it’s important to telegraph those back because they don’t have to be lonely experiences.”
Josh Ritter
This show is highly recommended, Ritter’s shows feature great storytelling, folk picking, and of course, music. His songwriting has been compared to literary greats like Bob Dylan, grasping at more significant concepts and using memorable imagery.
Tickets are $39.50 and are available at The Egg Box Office at the Empire State Plaza, by telephone at 518-473-1845, or online at www.theegg.org.
