Free Shows in Lake George This weekend, June 2nd and 3rd

This year, the first “Friday at the Lake” free concert takes place on June 2nd at Wood Park at 17 Westbrook Rd, instead of the usual Shepard Park in Lake George. The second is on Saturday and marks a teaming up with the annual Americade festivities. The concerts are part of a free Motorcycles and Music Festival and include three bands each night.

Funk Evolution headlines Friday. This 518 party band’s horn-fueled sound meshes classic funk, soul and rock of the 70s-90s, as well as hits from the 2000s to today. Lead vocalist Sabrina Gogan has worked as a performer at Walt Disney World and has won Berkshire Idol of the Year and WGNA Female Vocalist of the Year Idol awards. Male lead vocalist Mike McNair was a finalist for WGNA’s Country Idol in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

EB JEB headlines Saturday night. A regional fixture for four decades, this eight-piece southern rock group features two drummers, similar to the Allman Brothers’ configuration, and they’ve opened for the Charlie Daniels Band, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, and Blackfoot.

Also performing Friday night is Glens Falls-based Dirt Cheap. Together for 20 years, Dirt Cheap has multiple lead singers interpreting classic rock hits.

The Blue Moon Band opens the two-day festival. Based in Bolton Landing, they cover Santana, Bob Dylan, and other classic/southern rockers.
