“Porchfest” brings music to Schenectady, September 23rd.
SCHENECTADY – Coming to the porches of Schenectady’s GE Realty Plot is “Porchfest,” a community event for all, especially music lovers. Porchfest is a unique event that turns the everyday neighborhood into an electric live music scene.

Porchfest will happen rain or shine, starting at noon and ending at 7 p.m. Numerous bands with a wide variety of genres including jazz, classical, pop rock, Oktoberfest, and brass band will be offered for visitors to enjoy.
Porchfest first started in Ithaca, NY, sixteen years ago and over time has grown into a community-renowned event in both The US and Canada. Porchfest organizer and talented Schenectady musician Steve Weisse states “This Porchfest is the first of what we hope will be many more in different Schenectady neighborhoods each year as we grow this project.”
Bands are set to perform from the front porches at 1204 Rugby Road, 1183 Stratford Road, 7 Douglas Road and 1095 Ardsley Road, inviting viewers to dance and listen to the music all while enjoying the feeling of being surrounded by likeminded music loving community members. has secured multiple bands, a few including The Evidence, The Linda Brown Jazz Project, and Brass Abbey.
While music is the focal point of Porchfest, guests are also welcome to enjoy amenities such as food from The Hungry Traveler Food Truck which has been serving the Capital District since 2013. Porchfests arrival to Schenectady has been made possible thanks to funding by The Arts Center of the Capital Region, The Schenectady Foundation, and the Schenectady County Initiative Program.
Porchfest is free to all, and public bathrooms and plenty of parking will be available throughout the day. Porchfest will be a fun-filled event to remember so be sure to stop by!
