Helmet to perform at Empire Live Albany, October 3rd

ALBANY – Helmet, an alternative rock band hailing from New York City, is set to play at the Empire Live Albany venue this October. The band came together in 1989 under the leadership of vocalist and lead guitarist Page Hamilton and created an incredibly distinct sound. Despite band members coming and going, the hard-hitting sound has remained the same. Since 2010, the lineup has comprised Page Hamilton, drummer Kyle Stevenson, guitarist Dan Beeman, and bassist Dave Case.

Helmet’s musical range sonically can be said to be likely influenced by their versatile frontman, Page Hamilton. Hamilton’s wide-ranging musical background, where he has collaborated with artists like Glenn Branca, Caspar Brotzmann, and David Bowie, has also impacted the band’s sound.

Throughout the duration of their career, Helmet has released eight studio albums along with two compilation albums. After their debut release, “Strap It On,” the band found success and further landed a deal with Interscope Records. With Interscope, Helmet put out three successful albums, “Meantime,” “Betty,” and “Aftertaste.” These three albums received much praise and worked to further establish the sound that Helmet is known for. Although the band fell out in 1998, they eventually regrouped in 2004 and added four more albums to their collection.

Looking ahead to 2023, the band is planning to return to the studio and work on their ninth album titled “Left,” which is planned to be on shelves in November 2023. Though this album may explore new sounds, it will certainly keep that same well-known Helmet sound.
