Jake Shimabukuro graces Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, October 7th

TROY – The multi-talented musician Jake Shimabukuro will play Troy Music Hall this week! Shimabukuro has continued to surprise listeners and defy conventional expectations. He possesses a unique talent where he is able to transform the unassuming ukulele from just an instrument into a mode of sonic exploration.

Shimabukuro explores genres such as jazz, rock, blues, bluegrass, folk, and classical through his talent with the ukulele. As a musician, being able to transcend through so many genres is truly a testament to their creativity. In Shimabukuro’s case, he has pushed the ukulele to heights never fathomed before. The world watches his talent in awe, and Shimabukuro has even been called “the Jimi Hendrix of the ‘ukulele,” which speaks very highly to his level of mastery.

Yet, in the midst of this acclaim, Shimabukuro remains humble. With roots tracing back to childhood, when he first picked up a ukulele, his approach to music has always been easygoing and joyful. Every note Shimabukuro plays highlights his passion for the art. What makes him so talented is that he defies the norm and does not put any limitations on what he is able to do with his instrument.

Shimabukuro’s musical journey has taken him to play at prestigious venues like The Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center, and the Sydney Opera House. Shimabukuro certainly will continue to make more music, and at this very moment, a new album is in the works. This album is said to highlight those who have inspired Shimabukuro and led him to be the outstanding player he is today. Be sure to claim your tickets to Shimabukuro’s show this weekend – you won’t want to miss it!
