Barbaro bring the winter to The Linda, November 10th

ALBANY – Minneapolis’s critically acclaimed bluegrass band, Barbaro, embarks on an electrifying tour in support of the release of their new album, About the Winter. The album released this past Friday, and the band will kick off their tour next month, with a stop at The Linda on Friday, November 10th.

Made up of guitarist Kyle Shelstad, bassist Jason Wells, and violinist Rachel Calvert, this dynamic trio earned acclaim for their modern bluegrass sound on their 2020 debut, Dressed in Roses. However, the band claims that About the Winter will serve as their coming-of-age story, paying homage to their musical journey over the past few years.

The album’s ten tracks showcase the captivating fusion of Shelstad’s string band roots with Calvert’s and Wells’ classical music backgrounds. Notably, About the Winter breaks new ground as Shelstad and Calvert share vocal duties. Along with this, the trio incorporates more electric-based elements into their normal, acoustic bluegrass sound.

While keeping the sound they are known for, Barbaro looked to experiment sonically on their new album. As the band embarks on their new tour, fans will bare witness to an equally exciting and fresh set, featuring fan favorites and new songs alike. The Linda’s atmosphere and acoustics will be the perfect pairing for the trio’s bluegrass tendencies, so get your tickets today or enter to win a four-pack below!
