Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival 2024 coming to Mass MoCA in June

Solid Sound Festival 2024 was officially announced in early November, marking the return of the popular music and arts celebration. First introduced by renowned alternative/indie band Wilco and Higher Ground Presents in 2010, the newest fest is scheduled from June 28 to 30 and features an eclectic fusion of music, arts, and entertainment.

The 2024 festival, hosted and headlined by Wilco, will showcase an assorted lineup curated by the band. The event spans genres from rock, jazz, indie, to hip hop, and offers unique experiences like live falconry, stargazing workshops, and ax-throwing—all aimed at intriguing attendees.

Beyond MASS MoCA’s contemporary art galleries housing installations by renowned artists like James Turrell, Laurie Anderson, Sol LeWitt, Jenny Holzer, and Anselm Kiefer, the festival boasts a comedy stage, outdoor activities embracing the essence of the Berkshires, diverse family entertainment, local food, craft beverages and more.

As the creative force behind Solid Sound, Wilco brings their music to the forefront of the experience. The band, formed in the mid-90s, recently unveiled their new album “Cousin” featuring the lead single “Evicted.” Notably, Wilco’s lead singer, Jeff Tweedy, doubles as an accomplished author who recently published his latest work, “World Within A Song.”

Wilco, Jeff Tweedy & Friends will perform at the festival, promising a captivating experience. Complementing the musical lineup is John Hodgman’s Comedy Cabaret, who returns from last year.

With more details yet to be announced, attendees can expect an array of offerings, coupled with opportunities for camping and lodging. Those attending the festival can grab a physical program at the entrance or stay updated via the Solid Sound app, which organizers promise will be continuously refreshed as the festival draws near.
