Chastity Belt perform at Albany’s Lark Hall on May 9
From Walla Walla, Wash. to Lark Hall in Albany, comes Chastity Belt on May 9. With their career spanning over a decade, the indie rock group consists of members Julia Shapiro (guitar/vocals – she/her), Lydia Lund (guitar, vocals – she/her), Gretchen Grimm (drums, vocals – she/her), and Annie Truscott (bass, vocals – they/them), has been known for their introspective lyrics and vibrant melodies.
The band’s discography demonstrates their artistic style, delving into themes of self-discovery, feminism, and friendship, solidifying their esteemed status in the indie music sphere. In early stages of their career, they created songs with witty titles from their debut album, “No Regerts,” such as “Nip Slip” and “Pussy Weed Beer.” The 2015 phase, highlighted by “Cool Slut” in their album “Time To Go Home,” exuded vibrant humor and explicit feminism.
Showcasing their fifth album, “Live Laugh Love,” which will release March 29, the alternative indie group will start their 22 show tour on April 4 in Houston. Chastity Belt will also perform at Warsaw in Brooklyn on May 7 and at The Sinclair in Boston on May 8.
