Brunch with Bob featuring Annie Scherer

Annie Scherer plays the 51GR8s Stage at the Depot as special guest of Brunch with Bob.

About Annie:
From small town Voorheesville, NY, Annie Scherer takes artistry and songwriting to new heights. Combining her love for rock n’ roll classics, such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and alternative artists like Lana Del Rey and Lorde, she fuses strong lyrics with haunting melodies.

At just 6 years old, Annie began classical piano lessons and devoted 12 years to classical performance. It was only a year later that she wrote her first song, a holiday tune that she sang for her music teacher. By age 12, Annie had taught herself guitar and started gigging and writing more seriously. In addition to her musical aspirations, she is also a visual artist and practices with charcoal portraits.

In 2015, she began recording her first EP, ‘Dreams Like This’ with the help of David Flint, a Nashville producer. The EP featured five original tracks and was released on January 1, 2017. That same year, Annie won the opportunity to sing the National Anthem for the Tri-City Valleycats, an affiliate of the Houston Astros. She also began her freshman year at the College of Saint Rose as a music industry major. There, she formed a band to back up her original music and has played at commendable venues, including the Hollow and the Low Beat.

In 2018, Annie was awarded the Producer’s Choice for the ‘Celebration of Music’ PBS special in Troy, NY, hosted by Ethan Bortnick. She was rewarded with a trip to LA where she was taped performing her original song, ‘Andy Warhol’. The recording will be aired internationally in 2021.

“Loving You’s a Cancer,” Annie’s first single was released in January 2020, followed by ‘Andy Warhol.’ Both songs received radio play on several stations, as well as numerous Spotify playlist features. ‘Andy Warhol’ surpassed 25,000 Spotify streams after just a few months of its release, and has been highlighted on notable blogs, such as WFNM and A&R Factory.

On January 29th, 2021, “Take Me Places” was released. The single received a feature in Nyota Magazine, Amnplify, Outloud! Culture, and several more outlets. “After Rain,” the second single off Garden Bed was released February 26th, and attracted attention from Naluda Magazine, NYS Music, and others.

Annie’s first full-length album, Garden Bed, was released on March 26, 2021. Annie wrote all the songs, and produced all but one track. Garden Bed showcases Annie’s skills as a composer and multi-instrumentalist, performing the trumpet, piano, guitar, and ukulele, while arranging string quartet scores for songs like “Kaleidoscope” and “Ashamed.” The album was widely praised by American Songwriter, the Times Union, and NYS Music.

In April 2021, Annie was voted the best local musician in New York’s Capital Region according to the Times Union.
