John Simon Trio from 12.00 noon.
John Simon is an important part of the Woodstock’s music history. He produced, arranged and played on many classic albums including The Band’s “Music from Big Pink”, “The Band”, and “The Last Waltz”, “Cheap Thrills” by Janis Joplin, “Bookends” by Simon & Garfunkel, and the debut albums of Leonard Cohen and Blood, Sweat & Tears, among others.
He has also worked with Michael Franks, Taj Mahal, Dave Sanborn, Steve Forbert and Mama Cass and recorded 4 albums of his own songs.
Through all that, jazz has been his life-long quest at the top of the mountain.
For the past 15 years he has been playing weekly with his trio in nearby Ellenville, with drummer Jeff Siegel and Rich Syracuse playing bass. They may presently have the longest-running gig in the Hudson Valley.
In 2018 he wrote “TRUTH, LIES & HEARSAY: A Memoir Of A Musical Life In And Out Of Rock And Roll”, available wherever fine literature is sold.
