Michael T. Mainieri Jr. is an American vibraphonist known for his work with the jazz fusion group Steps Ahead. A virtual Who’s Who in modern jazz were at time members of the group including : Steve Gadd, Michael Brecker, Peter Erskine, Don Grolnick, Eddie Gomez, Marcus Miller, Mike Stern and many more
Mainieri was a pioneer in introducing an electronic vibraphone, known as a synth-vibe, and has recorded with such musicians as Buddy Rich, Wes Montgomery and Jeremy Steig. He performed for a live album by Laura Nyro and was featured on several tracks from the Dire Straits album Love Over Gold (1982), as well as on “Ride Across the River” on the album Brothers in Arms (1985). He performed on the albums Heads by Bob James, Heart to Heart by David Sanborn, and Tiger in the Rain by Michael Franks.
Omar Hakim (born February 12, 1959) is an American jazz, jazz fusion and pop music drummer, producer, arranger and composer. He has worked with Weather Report, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Sting, Madonna, Dire Straits, Journey, Kate Bush, George Benson, Miles Davis, Daft Punk, Mariah Carey, The Pussycat Dolls, David Lee Roth and Celine Dion.
Mino Cinélu (born March 10, 1957) is a French musician. He plays multiple instruments. He is a composer, programmer and producer; and is most often associated primarily for his work as a jazz percussionist. He was a member of the groups Gong, Pat Metheny Group, Weather Report, Sting and Miles Davis
Rachel Z, and now Rachel Z Hakim, is a jazz and rock pianist and keyboardist. She has recorded 10 solo albums as a jazz musician. She has also been a member of the Peter Gabriel Band, Wayne Shorter group and Steps Ahead. She was also a member of the Stanley Clarke/ Lenny White project, Al Di Meola and Pino Daniele
Scott Petito is an award winning composer, producer and engineer. He is a gifted bassist and multi-instrumentalist who has performed on hundreds of recordings in many musical styles. Scott has become particularly well known for his work in the folk and jazz genres, working with such musicians as; James Taylor, Pete Seeger, The Band, Jack DeJohnette, Don Byron, Dave Brubeck, Chick Corea, Roy Haynes, Simon Phillips, Michael Franks, John Scofield and hundreds of other leading musicians in jazz and popular music. He is Also the bassist for the Legendary rock group the Fugs
Jay Collins was long time music director and saxophonist for the Gregg Allman Band and a member of Levon Helms Midnight Ramble band . He has also worked with British neo-soulman James Hunter, singer Ray LaMontagne, drummer Jaimoe’s Jazz Band, guitarist/singer Chris Bergson, jazz guitarist Ed Cherry, and toured with the Dukes of September (featuring Donald Fagen, Boz Scaggs, and Michael McDonald).
