Sydney Worthley / El Modernist / Josh Morris

Lark Hall presents An Evening with Sydney Worthley, and special guests, El Modernist and Josh Morris.

From private bedroom writing sessions, to recording at well acclaimed Nada Recording Studio, Worthley is jumping in head first with Rose Colored Glasses. Almost 3 years after her debut, Sydney Worthley, a shining young star from New York’s Capital Region, has continued her journey in music with a new EP. Sydney is reinventing her musical identity with these new alt-pop pieces. From the ballad-like intro of “Sinking Ship”, to the pulsing melodies in “4:15”, to the reflective title track “Rose Colored Glasses”, Sydney Worthley shares delicate stories in this 5 track EP. Melodies and vocal parts nodding towards Florence and the Machine and songwriting styles comparable to Taylor Swift shine through these songs. By writing from personal brooding memory, Worthley strives to make connections with her audience through her healing processes. Strength, growth, and coming of age are all themes in this EP but she’s not taking things lightly anymore. She is determined to share her struggles but has gained confidence and wants her audience to feel that through her work.
In 2019, Sydney became an independent artist at the age of 17. In 2017, Sydney released her debut 14-track album titled Strong, followed by performances at at Mountain Jam Music Festival, First Night Saratoga, across New England alongside Sawyer Fredricks, and all over New York’s Capital Region. She has earned regular spots on Albany’s 88.3 WVCR and 97.7 WEXT, Woodstock NY’s 100.3 WDST, and WAPS “The Summit” in Akron, OH.
“Sydney Worthley is an artist to keep an eye on. She is young, but don’t dismiss her as a novelty for that reason. Her songwriting is impressive and memorable; a shining star for many releases to come. Pay attention now! She’s on her way.” ~ Brad Savage, Program Director – WAPS “The Summit” Akron, OH

El Modernist delivers a new take on the world of indie rock. With pulsating hooks and lush melodic waves of psychedelia, the band combines upbeat, catchy garage-rock with a modern alternative hip-hop sound.
(Which is a fancy way of saying they sing and play guitars and sometimes raps happen and it’s fun)
El Modernist brings an energy to the stage that resonates with fans of all ages. All members come from diverse musical backgrounds and find great joy in blending various influences, creating something entirely their own. Featuring a concoction of acoustic and electronic drums with screaming guitar riffs, every El Modernist show is a party that you do not want to miss.
El Modernist has been extremely grateful for the tremendous support of their fans and the Albany music scene. It has been a terrific experience playing shows with spectacular local and touring acts, as well as working with artists of all genres to help curate the “We Are Albany NY” Spotify playlist, a playlist which features music from any/all Albany natives and alumni who wish to join. Moving forward, El Modernist is excited to continue to release new music and pursue further show opportunities through out the Capital Region, North East and beyond.
Founded in 2018, El Modernist brings you today’s s**t. *

Josh Morris:
Josh is a drummer first and foremost. You can usually find him behind the kit for acts such as Hasty Page, Dark Honey, Girl Blue, and Julia Gargano. When he’s not part of the rhythm section, you can find him in his studio in Upstate NY where he offers session work, production, recording, and mastering services. As a solo artist, he can be described as, “a songwriter that should’ve been born in 90’s Seattle, but also has an affinity for Folk, R&B, and modern Indie Rock.”

The event is finished.
